The capital city of the U.S state of Indiana, Indianapolis is the 13th largest city in the Midwest and the second most populous city in the U.S after Phoenix, Arizona. Indianapolis is located in the Marion County and is also known as the ‘Racing Capital of the World’ due to its proximity with the Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400.
The climate of the place is soothing and tolerable. The city is extremely warm in the summers with the average highs in the mid-80s in June, July and August whereas it is quite cold in the winters. January is the coldest month with mercury not crossing 34 degrees.
Due to favorable climate conditions and world class attractions, Indianapolis is one of the hot tourist destinations at present. The city offers some unique attractions for young and the old. For instance the Indiana State Capitol, the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, the Indiana War Memorial, the Scottish Rite Cathedral, the Crown Hill Cemetery, the White River Gardens, the Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial, the Holocomb Observatory and Planetarium, the Oldfields-Lilly House and Gardens are some of the superb sightseeing avenues in Indianapolis.
